Patios in Doncaster
Many of the firms that lay driveways also lay patios, and the groundwork is much the same: dig out, build a firm base, then lay and point. Here is what it costs and what to ask before you agree a price.
What it costs in Doncaster
- Patios and paving: £3897 on average, typically £2737 to £5623[1]
This is Checkatrade's published average for Doncaster. Checkatrade's Doncaster page says to check whether drainage, sealing or sub-base work is included, because some installers charge extra[1].
UK prices by type
- Concrete patio: £65 to £120 per square metre[2]
- Flagstone patio: around £120 to £475 per square metre[2]
- Raised patio: around £85 to £275 per square metre[2]
Checkatrade's UK guide says patio laying ranges from £65 to £475 per square metre, before labour and hidden costs[2].
Labour
Checkatrade says patio labour averages around £280 a day, covering digging out, the hardcore base, sand and mortar, and laying[2].
Checkatrade says a typical patio of 20 square metres takes three to four days to lay, which it puts at between £1,080 and £2,160 in labour[2].
Extras that can appear
- Checkatrade lists drainage channels or soakaways, extra foundations or levelling, and a weed membrane as hidden costs that can appear once work starts[2].
- Checkatrade says you will probably need a skip for garden waste, at around £250[2].
Ask each firm to price drainage and waste in writing, so the quotes compare like with like.
Before you ask for quotes
Checkatrade advises measuring the length and width of the patio area and multiplying them to get the size in square metres, as installers will want to know it[2]. Decide on the paving you want, or have a photo of it, so each firm prices the same thing.
Replacing an old patio
Checkatrade says replacing a flagstone patio generally takes two to three days, including lifting the old flagstones[2].

Tell us what you need. We'll reply to say which local firm we'd pass your enquiry to, and we only pass it on if you say yes.
Driveways Doncaster is a referral service, not a driveway company. When you send an enquiry, we tell you which local firm we'd pass it to and only pass on your details if you agree. The firm may pay us for the introduction. We don't vouch for any firm's work, so get a written quote and read it before you agree to anything.
